‘Disturb us, Lord,’ Sir Francis Drake prayed. Deployment is definitely a disturbance! Not one many of us would specifically ask for, mind you. But what a worthy goal to keep in mind — to navigate life’s upsets with ‘strength, courage, hope, and love.’ I have set aside this space to journal my way through my husband’s deployment. May these reflections give hope to anyone facing a horizon pushed back farther than they can see. Oh, to look to that horizon in faith and dare to prove the promises of God in every disturbance that comes our way!
